I AM THIRD
At first we see MAIN CHARACTER living happily in his employment and social life.
Second, we learn he is living a very difficult life taking care of his ailing grandmother, living in her small trailer, as we learn he lost the rest of his family in a series of occurances. We see MAIN CHARACTER maintain his spiritual connection by placing himself third to god first and others second, while watching the graduation of others go from, at first, just his grandmother, to strangers as often as possible. During private times we watch MAIN CHARACTER pray prayers like the St. Francis.
And in the end, after laughing and crying at the events MAIN CHARACTER goes through, we see people follow in his footsteps at putting themselves third.
frequent unfortunate circumstances happen for our main character which audience gets to laugh and cry about... unveiling later that main character has very difficult life yet still represents hope as if he's got it easy (like wedding planner in Monsoon Wedding).
make several opportunities for supporting cast to succeed by the way of an 'assist' by MAIN CHARACTER... one example turning a penny right side up...
maybe end on MC picking up penny heads up penny as gesture of good karma.
make awkwardness from main character funny with sense of 'throwing it away' (Neil Simon style) stub your toe kind of humor
Logline: You can't always get what you want... but you just might find, you get what you give.
